We commemorate Emancipation Day of August 1, 1834, when slavery was abolished in the British Colonies, including Canada. Black Tutors Canada supports the effort to root out systemic racism and discrimination in the education system that impacted generations of Black students. We mark this day by remembering our past and working as a community to build each other up with the support of other communities in allyship.
